Preppy Kitchen's Chewy Chocolate Chip
"Classic bakery-style chocolate chip cookies with crisp golden edges, a soft chewy center, and loads of rich chocolate chips."
Instructions
8 Steps- 1Step 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
- 2Step 2
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- 3Step 3
In a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment (or large bowl with an electric hand mixer), beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar on medium-low speed for about 5 minutes until light and fluffy.
- 4Step 4
Add the egg and vanilla extract, beating until smoothly incorporated while scraping down the bowl sides.
- 5Step 5
With the mixer on low speed, slowly add the flour mixture and mix just until combined without overworking the dough.
- 6Step 6
Gently fold in the semisweet chocolate chips with a spatula.
- 7Step 7
Using a 1½-tablespoon scoop, portion the dough into balls on the prepared baking sheets and press a few extra chocolate chips on top. (Optional: chill for 1 hour for deeper flavor).
- 8Step 8
Bake for 12-14 minutes (13-15 minutes if chilled) until the edges are golden brown. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt immediately out of the oven, cool 5-10 minutes on the pan, and move to a wire rack.
